Talk from Anthropocene Architecture School: Scott McAulay

Anthropocene Architecture School is an internationally recognised agile, architectural education platform which creates educational spaces to respond to the Climate Emergency. Founder Scott, is a Glaswegian climate justice activist, architectural designer, climate literacy educator.

Scott’s talk will explore 2021’s Doors Open Day theme of Sustainable Cities, grounding our built environments in our context of a Climate and Ecological Emergency, exploring the impacts that our buildings and cities have upon life and landscapes as well as the opportunities they present to respond proactively and transformatively to climate change in the wake of 2021’s IPCC Report.

Scott McAulay (He/Him) is a Glaswegian climate justice activist, architectural designer, climate literacy educator, and founder of the Anthropocene Architecture School, an internationally recognised agile, architectural education platform which creates educational spaces to respond to the Climate Emergency.

Scott, who co-edits the RIAS Quarterly issue on “Activism in Architecture”, was among 2020’s RIBAJ Rising Stars cohort. He has spoken on climate action in architecture or taught Built Environment Climate Literacy for 16 schools of architecture across the U.K. and internationally. He sits on the RIAS Sustainability Working Group, is a coordinator of the Architects Climate Action Network’s Carbon Literacy Working Group and currently co-directs Anthropocene Projects CIC – a climate literacy catalyst and consultancy, while working as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant with Architype.
