The Cashback programme offers young people across Scotland access to free workshops led by accomplished Creatives, through various sub programmes.

The work in this showcase presents an exciting and engaging series of projects from this year’s international cohort of graduating students from the MDes 1 year programme at Glasgow School of Art. Providing a unique insight into the Department of Communication Design’s ethos in relation to the continually evolving disciplines of graphics, illustration and photography, the students have based their practice in both traditional and emergent fields.

'Plan B', was a physical intervention manifested from the minds of the participating artists Chonghe Fan, Ethan Dodd, Yoon Hong Il & Bori Gheorghita, presented as a mirrored double of their final post-graduate degree show at Glasgow School of Art.

'Fracture of One' was the third showcase from our Balancing Art Collaborative Residency with members Fibi Cowley, Thyme James and India Boxall. The cumulative show presented work created as part of their residency time with us and in collaboration with each other for the past three weeks while working in our gallery space. 

Our second ‘Balancing Art’ Showcase featured work created by SaltSpace members Nadja Andersson and Martha Stefani-Bose. The exhibition was the outcome of three weeks of collaboration between the two artists in our gallery space.

The Pieces Are In Flux Part 2’ was a collaborative group show featuring five of our ‘What If’ Digital Residents, Emily Dan , Ciara McInnes , Sharon Ferris, Hana Pokojna and Civic Soup.

Curated by WENCH Collective and Artemisia Vulgaris Collective. Exhibiting artists: Sofia Caers, Olivia Chebac, Mira Knoche, Julia Varis, currently Painting and Printmaking students at the Glasgow School of Art – “we have invited a group of budding and established artists, performers, activists and musicians based in Scotland, to showcase their different takes on female gazes on women, by women, for women and welcoming all the lovers thereof.”

‘People don't no is it’ and ‘Drowning above water’ a solo show by Connor Ross is an accumulation of works made during the SaltSpace X Print Clan residency and Covid19.
The work explores nostalgia and memory, and the censorship that comes with recollecting a memory through an installation of prints, drawings and recordings.

Group exhibition ‘After The Dinner Party’ features sculpture and mixed media artworks from Lesley McDermott, Chelsie Dysart, Alice Martin, Dawn McLaren, Val Martin and Eloise Kerr.

SaltSpace presented our 2020 Members Show with 45 emerging artists whose work ranges from painting, drawing, film, printmaking, jewellery and sculpture.

Emily is an architect-in-training currently living in Glasgow and studying at The Mac. A Cambridge undergrad Emily also worked in London for two years at DSDHA and Haworth Tompkins.

Ciara's residency explored Glasgow's brutalist legacy, documenting the impact these now lost structures have left on the city and gathered first hand accounts of people's experiences living in high towers and mid-century housing developments across Glasgow.

‘The Pieces are in ~ Flux’ was a collaborative group show featuring 16 of our Digital Residents from our various online residencies; 'What If' residency, Film & Audio-visual digital programme and our digital residencies via instagram and our website blog that we have hosted since March 2020 after the Covid-19 restrictions were under effect.

The exhibition, Cherub, is by our spring artist-in-residence, Kirstin Shanks who has been making work both in our residency space as well as at home over the last few months. Shanks, graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2019 and was the recipient of the RSA John Kinross Scholarship.

In the Autumn of 2020, members of the public and SaltSpace community gathered in an online reading circle centred on practices of decolonisation in relation to place and architecture.
